Grace Community Church begin ministering on Aug. 2. The Rev. Michael Pringle and his wife, Lora, decided to develop a church that is designed for people who have no church to call home.
The worship services are contemporary and are led by Curt Pennington, an adjunct music professor at ISU. The setting is relaxed and casual, with people sitting at round tables as they drink coffee and eat doughnuts.
The church is a place where every person receives love and respect, with no exception. It is this expectation of people in Grace that gives the church its direction.
“Love God, Love People, Minister to our World” is how the church describes its focus. The hope is that people say: “if this is what it means to be a Christian, then I want to be one, too.”
The Pringles have deep roots in the Wabash Valley. Lora’s family is from Marshall, Ill. Mike has pastored for more than 22 years. More than 18 of those years were in United Methodist congregations, including 6 1/2 years as pastor of First United Methodist Church of Paris, Ill.
The church meets at 355 W. Springhill Drive in the Fellowship Hall of Gospel Assembly Church. The service starts at 10:30 a.m. with nursery and children’s church.

I have a collection of manger scenes. Seventeen, as a matter of fact. A small one, about two inches by three, was purchased in the Holy Land and is carved out of olive wood. It was given to me a couple of weeks ago by a dear friend (thank you, Norma) because she wanted to add to my collection.
