New Signing for the Savior class beginning

TERRE HAUTE — Senior Education Ministries Inc. in partnership with Families by Choice and Park Place Apartments has scheduled Signing for the Savior.

Signing for the Savior is a free educational program in which sign language is done to music as a form of praise and worship.

The weekly class will be led by Patricia Hunt, a member of Prairieton United Methodist Church. She is a past lay leader and has served on many different committees. She has been on an Emmaus walk and also worked Emmaus as well.

At the age of 72, her desire to worship led her to worship with her hands, and as a result she began a self-taught journey into American Sign Language.

Semester one will begin Jan. 24 and end March 27. It will meet every Tuesday from 3-5 p.m. at the Park Place Apartments at 2915 Arleth St. in Terre Haute. Beginners class (or those wanting refresher) will meet from 3-3:45 p.m., and advanced classes will meet from 3:45-5 p.m.

There is no cost to attend this class; however,  a weekly love offering will be taken for the instructor to help defray the cost of fuel and class materials. Refreshments will be provided courtesy of Families By Choice.

On Jan. 24 at 3:15 p.m., the public is invited to find out what the program is all about with a time of fellowship and an opportunity to join past class members as they share their testimony and demonstrate what they’ve learned.

Class size is limited. Call (812) 230-7772 to sign up for the class.
