St. George’s Episcopal Church, West Terre Haute
The Rev. Jack Brockman, retired priest from St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Plainfield, will lead adult Christian Education on Sunday, March 7, as well as be officiant for Holy Eucharist, Rite II. Christian education is from 9:15 - 9:45 in Taylor Hall, and Holy Eucharist, Rite II, begins at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. Brockman will conduct the third Lenten Study session, “Our second promise: Will you persevere in resisting evil, and, whenever you fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord? I will, with God’s help.”
The retired priest, who lives in Brazil, serves as St. George’s “pastoral care giver” and will administer prayers for healing during eucharist for those who would like to receive a healing prayer. Brockman also works with Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
Brockman attended the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Mass., and was received into the Diocese of New Hampshire by Bishop Douglas Theurner. He has served at St. John’s, Portsmouth, N. H.; St. Mark’s, Perryville, Md.; and St. John’s, Crawfordsville, before retiring from St. Mark’s in June 2008.
Coffee hour with food and fellowship follows the service. All are welcome to attend all services.

Central Christian Church-Disciples of Christ
Sunday is our First Sunday of the Month Pancake Breakfast. This is held every month from 8:00-9:00am. A freewill offering is accepted. Everyone is invited to come to church early to enjoy a tasty breakfast. Different groups of the church will be preparing the breakfast to raise money for their group.
On the third Sunday of Lent, our worship service will begin at 9:30am. We will continue to focus on our Lenten theme of Homeward Bound during worship. We invite worshippers to bring a quilt from home any time during Lent to help decorate our sanctuary. A “Children’s Moment” will be led by Rev. Rebecca. Our Young Church will be passing their Blessing Box throughout the congregation. All money collected this year will be donated to the Heifer Project to purchase an animal. Communion is served every Sunday, and all believers are invited to partake. Nursery care is provided during worship and Sunday School.
Sunday School will begin at 11:00am. Classes are offered for children of all ages as well as two adult classes. One of our adult classes studies books of the Bible while the other adult class is focusing on sharing our faith and how we can strengthen our relationship with God.
Our Elders will meet at noon Sunday for prayer, and a discussion of spiritual practices.

Central Presbyterian Church
Central Presbyterian Church (125 N. Seventh St.) will gather Sunday for worship at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Davis’ sermon, “No Test Beyond Your Strength,” will be based on 1 Corinthians 10:1-13, in which the apostle Paul teaches that God provides a way for us to endure our trials. First Baptist
A traditional service is at 9:00 AM and the informal service is at 11:15 AM. For the 3rd Sunday of Lent Rev. Bernie Jackson’s sermon topic will be “Jesus and Martha & Mary” with scripture text from Luke 10:38-42. Music will be provided at the first service by The Sanctuary Choir and The Youth Bell Choir will provide music at both services. The Service of Communion is also observed on the first Sunday of each month. Sunday School, with classes for everyone, is at 10:15 AM.
The First Baptist Youth Group recently completed a four month mission project in which the goal was to raise two tons of food for local food banks. The final day of the project was February 28th and the group met and exceeded the goal by 500 pounds. In addition to the food drive, the youth also recently participated in the 30 Hour Famine to raise funds and awareness of world hunger through the ministry of World Vision.

Christian Science
Spiritual growth is one of the principles of Christian Science. We accomplish this through daily study of the Bible and our textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” by Mary Baker Eddy. This growth leads to healing of diseases by gaining a better understanding of God. This Sunday, the sermon is entiled, “MAN” and tells of our inseparability from God. Wednesday service is at 7:30pm and is titled, “All Action is from God.” After the service the congregation relates how Christian Science has brought healing into their lives.
