Listed for $7.7M, Frank Sinatra’s Ol’ Apartment Brought Back to Life

Syndicated —

Rat Pack antics at Frank Sinatra's penthouse are said to include champagne glass tossing over the balcony by Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.

Start spreading the news: The penthouse apartment where Frank Sinatra partied like it was 1969 has hit the New York real estate market for $7.7 million.

Only this time, the famous bachelor pad in the sky at 530 E. 72nd St. #PHB, New York, NY 10021 doesn't look anything like it did when Ol' Blue Eyes was carrying on with the Rat Pack and Mia Farrow.

That's because the duplex has undergone an extensive and "meticulous" renovation by insurance titan Penny Hart, who bought the apartment in 2010 for $2.3 million from the estate of Dr. Denton Cox.

As reported by the New York Observer, Cox - who became Sinatra's doctor after being summoned to the penthouse from his ground-floor practice in the '60s - was an eccentric bachelor who never changed a thing in the apartment after he bought it from Sinatra in 1972. That pretty much explains the "retro" look that prompted Hart to blast the place and add marble, chunky wood adornments and a circular staircase exactly like the one in some Apple Stores.

The difference is shocking, to say the least, given the photos taken by The New York Times of the abode after the Cox estate sold it.

The renovated kitchen.

Hard to tell it's the same place, which may explain the exuberant sales pitch being given by Rubicon Property, which holds the listing.

The main floor consists of an open kitchen, dining room, living room and 3 bedrooms - all with gorgeous views of the river. Night and day you will be transfixed by the incredible wraparound terrace. But this is only where the extravagance begins. Up a glass spiral staircase - the exact same one used in the Apple Stores - the master suite is revealed. From sunrise to the wee small hours of the morning, you will be absolutely captivated by the soaring 18-foot ceilings and magnificent views. This one-of-a-kind suite built on two floors provides ample living space, closets and perks once reserved for the Chairman of the Board."
