Syndicated — When they weren't tied up with filming television shows, jet-setting between cities on music tours or starring in a new movie, these A-listers were busy hunting for new real estate. Quite a few stars - think Ashton, Jennifer and even the Biebs - made significant home purchases the past few months. Were they possibly taking advantage of historically low interest rates? Or are these stories just examples of this year's home shopping season?

Ashton Kutcher

Forget the traditional Mediterranean or California ranch-style home ubiquitous in L.A. When Ashton Kutcher decided to buy a new place for his life post-Demi Moore, he chose a stunning modern with views of Lake Hollywood from its retractable glass walls. Kutcher had been renting the place when teen pop star Justin Bieber inquired about buying the place. When Kutcher found out, he put an offer on the Hollywood Hills home, showing The Biebs how the big dogs run in Tinseltown.

Set outside the buzz and paparazzi of Beverly Hills, Calabasas is home to serious privacy-seeking stars like Britney Spears and Steven Spielberg. However Bieber's new home purchase has not gone as smoothly as one would expect for someone with his wealth. The 7-bed, 8-bath home was appraised low and the singer is waiting on that to be ironed out before he and his entourage can officially move in.

The leading lady in film and real estate made the big move to New York in late 2011, explaining that she wanted to get back to the city of her childhood. Apparently, the desire was fleeting. Just under a year later, Jennifer Aniston and current beau Justin Theroux picked up a modern Bel Air estate. Although the listing claimed Aniston's new home was A. Quincy's "finest piece of art," and was meticulously restored, reports are that Aniston and Theroux are doing their own upgrades to the place.

When Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi listed their custom compound for $49 million, it was inevitable that they would be on the lookout for a new place. The two decided to keep it in the family - the celebrity family, that is - and they purchased a home from Brad Pitt. The mid-century pad was lovingly restored by Pitt after he split from Aniston. While the very private Malibu home is undoubtedly too small for the Pitt-Jolie clan, it'll be a perfect space for DeGeneres and de Rossi.

With a new stage in his love relationship there comes a new home: Steven Tyler proposed to longtime girlfriend Erin Brady in Hawaii and purchased a new home shortly after. Their new Maui home comes with all the best features of a Hawaii property: Beach access, ocean breezes and sunset views. This isn't the only recent purchase Tyler made. According to The Real Estalker, he also picked up a short-sale property in Laurel Canyon in late July 2011.
