Mel Gibson’s Former Greenwich Home Hits the Market

Celebrity ownership can sometimes help sell a home, but what about former celebrity ownership?

A Greenwich, CT home that was a longtime residence of Mel Gibson and his ex-wife, Robyn, has hit the market just two years after Gibson sold it.

Built in 1926, Old Mill Farm is described as a "landmark treasure." Designed by architect Charles Lewis Bowman, the Elizabethan Tudor has more than 15,800 square feet sitting on 75.7 acres and is priced at a whopping $32.995 million.

At the end of a long, private drive, Gibson's former home is surrounded by formal gardens - including a maze - terraced patios, a pool and tennis court as well as staff quarters, a spring-fed pond, greenhouse, stable and log cabin guest house.

The interior recalls more Tudor inspiration with 17th-century paneling, a great hall with 40-foot ceilings, a walk-in fireplace and leaded glass windows.

With 15 bedrooms and 13.5 bathrooms, the property is more estate than private home.

In the wake of Gibson's divorce, he and his ex-wife dumped a number of properties in addition to the Greenwich home, including a Serra Retreat compound in Malibu.

A monthly payment on Gibson's former home would be about $118,000, assuming a 20 percent down payment on a 30-year fixed mortgage, according to current mortgage rates.
