RAMBLIN' RECK: Golf battle at Rea Park

TERRE HAUTE — The high school sports schedules are busy again this week, with local boys golf teams playing two matches at Rea Park.

Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South and West Vigo will vie for county honors today in a nine-hole match with the Patriots being the favorites.

Those teams and others from the area will return to the course on Saturday for the South Braves Invitational. North, Greencastle and Linton could be top finishers in the 12-team event.

North has not been in a complete match since finishing third in the Northview Invitational. The Patriots got in several holes last Saturday before rain wiped out the Danville Invitational.

Older golfers — men and women — have the chance to play in a Par-3 Shootout on Saturday at Hulman Links. Two-man tournaments are slated for April 28-29 at Forest Park and May 5-6 at Geneva Hills.

Juniors may take part in a free clinic April 28 at Rea Park. Indiana State coach Greg Towne and ISU players will provide instruction from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and lunch will be provided.
