Bryan an asset to County Council

If you search for the definition of public servant in the dictionary you are likely to find a picture and  name of Bill Bryan.

Bill has served in the capacity of county commissioner from 1999-2006 and is currently on the County Council since 2009. His soft-spoken manner, quiet demeanor and care for his community is surpassed only by his tenacious ability to thoroughly research all topics presented before he and his colleagues. Only after thorough and careful scrutinization of all facts would they consider knowledgeable resolutions.

My experience with my friend Bill date back to the early 1980s when he was proprietor of the Riley Custom Meat Market. His expertise as a meat cutter, efficiency, and a cordial personality lent itself well to the success of his business. After selling his business in 1997 he was highly encouraged by Jim Diehl and many others to run for public office.

In 1999, Bill was elected as county commissioner and became instrumental in accomplishing the following positive impacts on our community: development of state-of-the-art juvenile center, restoration of the courthouse, badly needed restoration of the jail facility, acquisition of a new county building (the annex) and a work-release center. As a council member he is  chairman of the annual budget committee and also sits on the budget adjustment, transfers and appropriations committee.

As a community, it is our responsibility to reward citizens with the dedication and perseverance that Bill has proudly demonstrated. He is seeking re-election on May 8 as a council member at-large and it is our duty to see that Bill Bryan is re-elected to continue the progress of improving our community with his experience, knowledge, dedication and enthusiasm. Bill exemplifies the role of a loving husband, father and grandfather and displays a superior degree of integrity. Family values are and integral part of who Bill Bryan really is and represents.

Common sense tells me that Bill Bryan is definitely the person I want in that office. Bill is truly an asset to our community.

Gravity proven, evolution is not

I am replying to the letter from Dr. Richard Ditteon, Ph.D., Professor of Physics, of April 17, who after reading my letter regarding evolution, is claiming that there is no difference between a law and a theory. As an example, he cited Newton’s Law of Gravity in a comparison with Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity, which he claims rendered Newton’s law obsolete.

I feel Dr. Richard Ditteon, Ph.D., got lost in semantics and missed my point entirely, so let me simplify it for him: According to Newton’s law, when you drop an object it falls to the ground. That fact will never become “obsolete”. Gravity is real and proven; evolution is not.
