READERS’ FORUM: Oct. 3, 2012

Let’s just wait until people vote

Did they already hold the election? Did I miss it? I must have, at least according to the headline of your paper on Oct. 1, 2012, “Obama nears magic 270 electoral votes.”

Silly me, I thought the election was Nov. 6.

I always thought your newspaper was left-leaning, now you have just proved it to me. I don’t know what polls you are using, as far as I am concerned there is only one poll worth the paper it’s printed on and that is Rasmussen. Over the years, Rasmussen has been more accurate than all the other so-called polls, and they have it as a toss-up between Obama and Romney.

The other polls are heavily weighted in their sampling of Democrats compared to Republicans. They also assume that the Democratic turnout will be higher than what it was in 2008.

What are you trying to do with your misleading headlines? Suppress the vote?

Let’s wait until after the votes have been counted on Nov. 6 before we declare a winner. You would think that the news media would have learned their lesson from the past, “Dewey Defeats Truman.”

What exactly did Mourdock say?

Richard’s Mourdock’s latest ad blasts people who he says are telling lies about him on television. What a bawl baby. He states that he did not say Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security were unconstitutional.

Well, what is true? What exactly did he say?

He said, “… Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. I challenge you in Article I Section 8 of the United States Constitution. Where those so-called enumerated powers are listed. I challenge you to find words that talk about Medicare, or Medicaid or yes, even Social Security.” Ergo, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security are NOT in the U.S. Constitution.

Exactly what did he mean when he said this at a tea party rally? What do you think that he meant?

You know now that Richard Mourdock cannot be trusted to tell the truth. Why would you vote for him?

Good performance by local theater

My daughter-in-law Holly and I attended the Community Theatre of Terre Haute production of “Hairspray” on Sunday, Sept. 30, and want to say it was very, very good.

We are so blessed to have so many talented and dedicated people in our area, so many young people enjoying themselves. Keep up the good work.
