RONN MOTT’S MINUTE: Things I see

Most of the things I see do not disturb me. I’m older than I’ve ever been and, certainly, a little jaded by the experience. I’ve grown accustomed to religious statements and political statements on car bumpers, or back window of trucks.

There are some things, however, that make my blood boil. There’s the bumper sticker that says, “---- Happens.” The bumper sticker begins with S, ends with T, and has HI in between. Talk about bad taste … Wow.

Then there’s the little boy on the back window of, almost always, a truck urinating on the name of the truck the driver is not driving. I don’t quite get it. A very valid statement is being made by not driving that particular model of truck.

The most recent thing I’ve witnessed is plastic, male testicles hanging from a hitch or back bumper of, almost always, a truck. Is the driver trying to explain to you he is a man? Or is he just trying to show us he is just plain stupid?

I can’t think of anything one can put on the back of a vehicle to show good taste. Perhaps by not putting anything on bumpers, back windows, etc., shows something of good taste. I do know that having to explain to a small child some of the afore-mentioned signs or objects would be difficult. There’s no way of judging someone’s bad taste in a casual observation unless it’s very ugly and very obvious. And, oh yes, stupid!
