Time to discuss a weapons ban
New York’s Mayor Bloomberg made a wonderful suggestion on Face the Nation. Both Romney and Obama should be asked what their answers are to violence with assault weapons.
The men in my family for generations have loved hunting birds and wild game, but I’m not referring to those who love to hunt, or those who love to shoot targets or clay pigeons. Assault weapons are another thing entirely. They are made to kill people and are easily purchased by almost anyone.
The powerful NRA has only one broken record, “Guns don’t kill, people do.” This is my point exactly. The only way we can curb the growing violence in this country is to put a stop to the sales of weapons which are made for killing people. There will always be those among us who are mentally ill, and we can’t always tell who they are. The tragedy which unfolded last week in Aurora, Colo., might not have been completely averted, but without assault rifles, the damage could not have been as great.
I believe this is a cause which is neither Republican nor Democrat, but is rather “pro life.” How many lives have to be needlessly sacrificed before reasonable people do what is best for the entire country? All of us have a right to defend ourselves, but how many more Gabby Giffords, police, or innocent 6-year-olds have to be sacrificed on the altar of a misunderstanding of the “right to bear arms”?
Please contact your senators and representatives on the state and national level to let them know you want a more reasonable law which excludes all types of assault weapons.

Time to purify political system
President Obama is attempting to create a society whereby segments of society will not partake in the acts of market exchange themselves. They can receive goods and services via government directives after doing their assigned and allotted tasks.
The receiving of these goods and services in the new Obama society will not be based on education or patriotism, work done or pride in work accomplished, or working for ownership of house or auto, or pride and/or self-esteem in one’s own person, or in the ability to pay. They will be doled out to that new larger growing segment in the new Obama society. This is the type of society and person that the Obama administration is trying to create.
Democratic socialism or the new Obama society, however, is not creating a healthy, dynamic, productive, greater employment and harmonious country; it is creating divisions between classes of people, divisions between races of people, and divisions between religions of people and between people and their government.
We must again find the American way in our hearts, in our souls, in our minds, in our economy and in our government.
If the American presidency has become rotten, it is up to the Congress to purify it. If the American Congress has become rotten, it is up to the American people to purify it. If both have become rotten, it is up to the American voter to purify them.
