Enriching event for CASA Kids
The Vigo County CASA/CASA Kids program would like to thank the public for coming to the 2012 Family Bash on the Wabash on Sept. 22 at Fairbanks Park.
Everyone who participated has helped the CASA Kids program continue to provide awareness and much-needed enrichment activities for children in the child welfare system.

Hard work fuels a great festival
“Hard work spotlights the character of people: some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don’t turn up at all,” — Sam Ewing.
The Cory Apple Festival this year could not be called anything but a phenomenal success. The weather was perfect, the food was fantastic and the folks were down-home friendly as always. The success of this festival is quite important to our little community because the proceeds from it are the sole financial support of the Cory Volunteer Fire Department.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the dedicated community members and others who gave of their time and efforts to put on the festival and by doing so supported the Cory Volunteer Fire Department. This event is not a vision of one, but it is the collaboration of many selfless, hard-working individuals giving of themselves for an excellent cause.
As a final note, the Cory Volunteer Fire Department is not a group which would attempt any kind of political influence or obstruction: however, we would like it to be known that we invited many of our local politicians to assist with the Fire Department’s Fish Fry. Representatives of both parties were invited. Only one political candidate agreed to come and actually showed up. He did not come prepared to kiss babies and shake hands for votes; he simply came, rolled up his sleeves and breaded fish.
For this reason, one political candidate has the full respect of the Cory Volunteer Fire Department. We feel he has a genuine desire to serve the people as a civil servant, and so we personally thank Tony Fenwick for having true character in a profession where that attribute is a rarity.
Thank you again to everyone who helped, and we look forward to another great festival next year.
