Mary C. Harden

CLAY CITY — Mary C. Harden, 97, of Clay City, died Dec. 12, 2009, at 11:15 p.m., in Southwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. She had been a resident there for several years. She was born July 4, 1912, in Clay County, the daughter of John E. Woodburn and Emma Dalton Woodburn. She worked as a nurse’s aide for 10 years at Meadows Manor East, retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Bowling Green United Methodist Church and had been a member of the women’s group. She enjoyed making pies, gardening and working in her flower beds.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Glen Loehr; her second husband, Harrison Harden, in 1984; daughter, Martha Loehr Nay; son-in-law, Marvin Schroer; two stepchildren, Mildred Hart and Wilbur Harden; brothers, Albert Woodburn and Emmert Woodburn (Gladys); sister, Frances Price Powers (Raymond), sister-in-law, Alberta Woodburn; and great-granddaughter, Anne Hauser.

Survivors include three children, Rose Marie Weber (Jim) of Bowling Green, Harrison Harden (Bobbie) of Clay City, and Mary Alice Schroer of Bowling Green; 14 grandchildren, Janice Modesitt (Maury), Joe Nay (Bev), Carla Crafton (Gerry), Rhonda Hauser (Neal), Lisa Reichard (Don), Jimmy Weber Jr. (Laura), Robert Weber (Tina), Stacy Everhart (Steve), Jeanne Elliott (Brad), Jamey Harden (Bobbi), Braiden Hill (David), David Schroer (Jennifer), Cole Schroer, and Adam Schroer; 33 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, Gary Nay (Barb) of Avon; one brother, Harold Woodburn of Indianapolis; many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m., at French Funeral Home, with Pastor Lon Rector officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Youth for Christ. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
