Samuel E. Haney Jr. “Sonny,” 64, of West Terre Haute, passed away 6:01 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, in the Union Hospital Emergency Room. He was born Aug. 7, 1945, in Vigo County, to Samuel Haney Sr. and Minnie Livingston Haney.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Haney. Survivors include his children, Tina (Harrison) Sheese, Samuel Jr. (Susan) Haney, Danuel Haney, Terry Haney (companion, Brandy Musick), Teresa (Gregg) Shotts, Herb (Jamie) Lambert, and Brittany Haney (companion, Chris Warford); two brothers, Steve (Wanda) Haney, and Mark (Sandy) Haney; 21 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He had previously been employed with the Vigo County School Corporation in maintenance at the Benjamin Franklin Elementary School for 25 years. He was proud of being an ordained minister. He also had served as president of the CB Club.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., in West Terre Haute, with Ronnie Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Memorial Park. Visitation will be noon until service time Tuesday. The family suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Sam Haney Memorial Fund to assist with expenses with envelopes available in the funeral home.
