FARMERSBURG — Clarence Victor “Butch” Skelton, 62, of Farmersburg, passed away at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, in Farmersburg. The 1965 graduate of North Central High School was born March 3, 1947, in Terre Haute, to Eugene Skelton and Vera Mae Morris Skelton. He retired from American Electric Power after 35 years of service, 22 years at the Breed Plant, he then transferred to Kanawha River Plant. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Clarence was an avid motorcyclist and loved to ride with his friends from Victory of Terre Haute, but his greatest love was for his family and friends, his dog Mel, and doing yard work. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include three sons, Terry (Donna) Skelton of Chatham, Ill., Rob (Amy) McCammon of Carlisle, and Greg (Christine) McCammon of Muncie; two daughters, Toni Houghton of West Terre Haute and Kari Thomas of Hurricane, W.Va.; one sister, Sierra Sue Hayward of Brazil; 13 grandchildren, Crystal Gray, John Crow, Brookyln Houghton, Mitch McCammon, Cierra McCammon, Garrett McCammon, Candice Ruttan, Celeste Ruttan, Jackson Sigler, Kaitlynn Rider, Sydney Meredith, Lillian Meredith, and Blaine Thomas; and other relatives.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Holmes Memorial Chapel, in Sullivan, with Dr. James Gibson officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery in Farmersburg. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and 11 a.m. until time of services Saturday.
