Leah Ann Benger, 57, passed away Nov. 19, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family. Leah was born on Oct. 25, 1952, in Terre Haute to Richard and Sarah Birchfield. She married Gary Benger on Jan. 3, 1978, in Terre Haute, where their three children were born. They relocated to the Olathe area in 1999. Leah valued and loved her family above all else, and she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, Gary, of the home; her children, James (Hannah) Benger, Peter Benger, and Emily Benger; and her sister, Susan Birchfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. on Monday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorials be made to Cancer Research, in c/o KU Endowment Fund, 3901 Rainbow Blvd., MS 3012, Kansas City, KS 66160, and given in memory of Leah Benger
