Kathleen Sue ‘Kakie’ Curtis


Kathleen Sue “Kakie” Curtis, 56, of Terre Haute, passed away on Oct. 22, 2009 in St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Zanesville, Ohio on Dec. 17, 1952 to August Lewis Stemm and Cora Watkins Stemm.

She is survived by a sister; Mary Ann Hofmann of Center Point; two brothers; David L. Stemm (and wife Kathy) of Brazil, Ind., and John Shipley (and wife Maxine) of Melbourne, Fla. Also surviving are nieces and nephews; Jason Sisk, Tara McCullough, Afton Hoffman, Sarah Royer, and Cory and Nicholas Hofmann; as well as other special nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews. A close friend, Norma Boyll, also survives.

She was a member of the Why Me Breast Cancer Support Group and enjoyed going to Camp Bluebird. She also loved to travel, was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending holidays and outings with family.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday in Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., with Pastor Jerry Caskey officiating. Visitation is 12:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Cremation will follow services.
