FARMERSBURG — Robert Earl Montague, 69, passed away Monday, Oct. 11, 2009, at McCune Brooks Hospital in Carthage, Mo. He was born Nov. 9, 1939, in Farmersburg, to Thomas Earl and Edna Faye (Watson) Montague.
Rob served his country in three branches of service, the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force. He was part of the original Navy SEAL program, the development of the Kit & Kaboodle as he would say, and three tours of duty in Vietnam.
Rob married Michelle L. Himmeger, on April 12, 1997, in Nevada, and she survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Camille Au of Honolulu, Faye Inoue of Stockton, Calif.; adopted daughter, Chrysta Henderson of Carthage; sisters, Margaret Bearhope of Thorntown, Ind., Linda Gilbert and husband Roger of Columbia, and Mary Elkins-Jones and husband Paul of Palmetto, Fla.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister, Charlotte Loveless; brother, David Montague; mother, Edna Faye Watson; and father, Thomas Earl Montague.
Mr. Montague has been taken for cremation. A wake will be held at a later date.
