MARTINSVILLE, IND. — MARTINSVILLE, Ind. — Jerry Rex McDonald, 77, of Martinsville, passed from this life on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at 2:09 p.m., at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was born in Riley, on Feb. 15, 1933, to the late Harry E. McDonald and Lucille (Reed) Barnett. He spent his childhood in Greene County, and graduated from Midland High School. He moved to the Martinsville area in the 1960s, where he worked at Twigg Corporation for many years. During the mid-1980s he purchased Honeycomb Products in Indianapolis, and is currently a co-owner in the manufacturing company with his stepson.

He was a member of Mount Nebo Community Church, Martinsville Elks Lodge 1349, Lost Dutchman Mining Association, and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He loved to do latch hook rugs, travel, read, and mine for gold in his spare time.

He leaves behind a host of family and friends including his wife, Joan K. McDonald, whom he married Nov. 21, 1999; two sons, John (Joyce) McDonald of Montana, and Jeffrey (Teresa) McDonald of Jasonville; three daughters, Jackie (Ed) Hulett of Martinsville, Kim (John) Butler of Jasper, and Tammy (Randy) Meyer of North Carolina; four stepsons, Phil (Kathy) Ooley, Bill (Linda) Sichting, and Jim (Teresa) Sichting, all of Martinsville, and Kirk (Steve) Sichting of Indianapolis; two stepdaughters, Donna (Paul) Saylor of Martinsville, and Shelly (Charlie) Beaver of Morgantown; one sister, Sondy (Bud) Rogers of Terre Haute; 13 grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 25 stepgreat-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert McDonald; one brother, Arley McDonald; and one stepgrandchild.

Family and friends are invited to visit today from 4 to 8 p.m., and Wednesday, June 30, 2010, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center, 110 E. Poston Road, Martinsville. The Rev. Dell Pfaff will conduct a celebration of life service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. His burial will be during a private ceremony at a later date.

Contributions may be made, in lieu of flowers, to Mount Nebo Community Church, 5100 State Road 252, Martinsville, IN 46151.
