David L. Hayden

CLAY CITY — David L. Hayden, 56 of Clay City, died unexpectedly Aug. 6, 2009 at 11:25 p.m. at Union Hospital. He was born Oct. 27, 1952 in Green County the son of Garry Hayden and Geneva Burris Hayden. He graduated from Clay City High School, Class of 1970. On April 14, 1973 David and Lynnetta Ream Hayden were united in marriage.

From 1984 to 1995 David owned and operated The Mower Shop in Clay City. He worked for the Clay County Highway Department for the past several years. He restored a 1983 Ford Ranger pick up truck and has passed down a John Deere 630 tractor to his son. He also enjoyed woodworking and working on house projects.

Survivors include his wife, Lynnetta Hayden of Clay City; son, Jerry Hayden and wife Jessica; daughter, Heather Moody and husband Eric all of Clay City; daughter, Amber Hayden and friend Jimmy Hargis of Brazil; three grandchildren, Brody and Abby Hayden and Mallory Grisgby; three sisters, Martha (Wally) Simmons of Columbia City, Kate (Ron) Mitchell of Coal City, and Phyllis ‘Short’ (Kermit) Wilcox of Worthington; several nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Wendy Hayden; his parents; one brother, Gary Hayden; in-laws, Pauline and Earl Ream.

Graveside services are Sunday at 2 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery with Pastor Paul Zurcher officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in Clay City.
