Virginia L. Sutt Barnes, of Terre Haute, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010. at Union Hospital. Virginia was born in Johnson City, Ill., the daughter of John and Lula Bowden. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Community Church.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Michael Barnes; a son, Steven Waugh of Barstow, Calif.; a daughter, Pamela Lambert of Helendale, Calif.; stepdaughter, Wendy Barnes; stepson, Chad Barnes; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Gladys Abrams of Terre Haute, and Hilda Dahne of Jensen Beach, Fla.; a brother, Harold Bowden of West Terre Haute; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010. at 2 p.m. in New Hope Community Church, 3947 Riley Road, with Pastor Dave Sivley officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Anyone wishing to make donations, in lieu of flowers, may do so to Catholic Charities of Terre Haute, or Multiple Sclerosis, in Virginia’s honor.
