John Michael Drake II


John Michael Drake II, 22, of Terre Haute, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, after a courageous battle with cancer. John was a senior at DePauw University in Greencastle, where he was an economics major; he also was an honor student and a member of the Prestigious Management Fellow’s Program. John was born Oct. 24, 1987, in Terre Haute, to John M. Drake and Sara L, (Brentlinger) Drake.

He is survived by his parents of Terre Haute; a sister, Leslie L. Drake of Terre Haute; paternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Mary and Raymond Strange; maternal stepgrandmother, Donna Brentlinger; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a multitude of friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Roy and Lucille Brentlinger; and his paternal grandfather, Robert E. Drake.

John was a 2006 graduate of Terre Haute North Vigo High School and a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Visitation is Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave.. Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., in the funeral home, with the Rev. Father David Rabeneker officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. If friends so desire, the family has suggested, that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (envelopes will be available at the funeral home).
