CLINTON — Roscoe “Ray” Huffman, 79, of Clinton, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Vermillion Convalescent Center. He was born Feb. 1, 1930, in Cedar Park, to Leo Huffman and Versa Wright Huffman. He was a material handler with J.I. Case, in Terre Haute, retiring May 27, 1987. He was in the Naval Reserves. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, was a member and chaplain for United Auto Workers Local 689. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Jean Huffman; and a sister, Carolyn Huffman.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Potter Huffman; three children, Jenne Columbo of Avon, Steve (Kim) Huffman of Clinton, and Rick (Sue) Huffman of Indianapolis; stepchildren, Janice (Mike) Montgomery, Gary Conner and Randy Conner; grandchildren, Angela Scheberle, Lindsay Ferrell, Stacy Shaw, Ashley Ellis, and Devin Huffman; great-grandchildren, Breanna Scheberle, Hannah Scheberle, Justin Scheberle, and Jacob Shaw; stepgrandchildren, Jason Montgomery, Jessica Montgomery, Greg Conner, Scott Conner, Alisa Conner, and Bradley Conner; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Noah Myers and Keegan Myers; three sisters, Gladys Nesbitt of Decatur, Ill., Cheryl Huffman of West Chester, Ohio, and Wretha Purdy of Clinton; two brothers, Earl Huffman of Monroe, Wis., and Robert Huffman; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Frist Funeral Home, 458 Blackman St., with the Rev. Larry Snyder officiating. Burial is in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley, in his memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
