HUTSONVILLE, Ill. —
Dorothy E. Tingley, age 92, of Hutsonville passed away as she had lived, with peace and grace, on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at 11:05 p.m., at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center, in Robinson, with her husband Carl at her side. Dorothy was born June 12, 1920, in Clark County, one of five children of Harry and Edith (Kile) Kannmacher. Dorothy attended the Jackson School and Marshall and Martinsville high schools, graduating from Martinsville in 1938. From there she attended Eastern Illinois State Teachers College, and eventually taught at the Jackson and Brosman schools before joining the U.S. Navy in June of 1943. While in the Navy Dorothy served in the Medical Corps, stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base.
In August of 1944 Dorothy married Carl T. Tingley, eventually settling in Hutsonville in 1947, starting a J.I. Case implement dealership, and later engaging in farming also. Dorothy worked at the implement business and on the farm and was active in the Hutsonville Methodist Church and the Methodist Women’s Society. Her husband of 68 years, Carl Tingley, survives.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Sally Tingley of Effingham, Carl D. Tingley and Kris Tingley of Hutsonville, and John and Kathy Tingley of Bourbonnais; six grandchildren and spouses, Scott and Jennifer Tingley of New Lenox, Chris and Michelle Tingley of Effingham, TJ and Ashley Tingley of Robinson, Mark and Stacy Tingley of Machesney Park, Danielle and Jonah Ralston of East Lansing, Mich., and Evan and Jaclynne Tingley of Bourbonnais; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and John Seeburger; sisters-in-law, Marge Kannmacher, Mame Kannmacher, Vernice Tingley, Margaret Ann Tingley and Helen Tingley.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Dale Kannmacher; a sister and husband, Kay and Scott Everhart; brothers-in-law, Bill, Gene and Guy Tingley; in-laws, Jane and Russell Abel and Mary and Bill McGee.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. CST at Pulliam Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bessie Adams officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2013, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon, and from 1 p.m. until time of the service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Marshall Cemetery, in Marshall. Graveside military rites will be provided by the Marshall American Legion Post. Memorials may be made to Hutsonville United Methodist Church or Lincolnland Hospice, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
