Virginia C. Fisher Bracken

Virginia C. Fisher Bracken, 90, of Terre Haute, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Saturday March 2, 2013, at Southwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Terre Haute. She was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Vigo County, Ind., to Herman Fisher and Helen Wilson Fisher.

Her husband, Richard L. Bracken, whom she married Dec. 21, 1953, in Terre Haute preceded her in death April 19, 2010. Survivors include two daughter and sons-in-law, Judy and Lee Cheesman of Riley and Dian and Gary Menke of Terre Haute; three sons, Bill Brock and his wife Phyllis of West Terre Haute, Max Bracken and his wife Vickie of Terre Haute, and Rick Bracken of Terre Haute; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Hugh Patterson of Washington, Ill.; a brother and sister-in-law, Albert E.  Fisher and Sandy Fisher of Terre Haute; nine grandchildren, Lisa Drake, Don Rogers (Esther), Mark Cobb, Julie Moore (Frank), Shawn Benton (Cindy), Tina Harden (Kyle), Billy Brock, Kevin Bracken, and Chandra Andis (J.R.); numerous great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by an infant sister, Dorothy Fisher; and a brother, Virgil Fisher.

She was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly Of God Church where she was a loving and devoted Sunday School teacher who gave her whole heart to the many children in her class for many years. Virginia was all about God, family and church.

Funeral services for Virginia will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., West Terre Haute. Burial will be in Bethesda Memorial Park. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff and nurses at Southwood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for the care given to Virginia. Especially the nurses in the reflections wing and also to Vista Care Hospice. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor’s choice. There will be envelopes available in the funeral home.
