JASONVILLE — Phyllis Rose Ridinger, 82, of Jasonville, passed away at 11:35 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Southwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Terre Haute. She was born May 2, 1930, at home, to Earl (Doc) Rine and Margaret (McGrew) Rine.
She was a devoted mother to her five children, Jeannie Johnson, Sonja and Stonie Cox, Tom Ridinger, John Ridinger, and Brent Ridinger; loving grandmother to Nissa and John Ellett, Jenny Cooper, Amy and Wade Fanning, Joby and Brandi Cox, Andrea and Scott Padgett, Kristopher Johnson and Leah, Ashley Ridinger and Paul, Shawn Ridinger, and Jessica Ridinger and Mike; and great-grandmother to 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Joan Rine.
She loved visiting with her family, friends and playing games with her great-grandchildren.
Phyllis was a Jasonville High School class of 1948 graduate. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved Woodland Bible Camp, was a former Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was a member of Eastern Stars and Republican Party. She attended the Inaugurations of Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. Phyllis married Jack Ridinger on Nov. 28, 1948. They started in the grocery business in 1951. She was co-owner of Shakamak IGA, Variety Store, Jasonville Laundry & Car Wash, Snack-a-Shack Restaurant. She was owner of Ellettsville IGA and Worthington IGA.
Arrangements are entrusted to Cox Funeral Home, 218 South Meridian St., in Jasonville, with visitation scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastors Pat Kelly and Jerry Carmichael officiating. Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland. Contributions may be made to the Woodland Bible Camp or Local Food Bank.
