TERRE HAUTE —
Charles “Chuck” William Meadows Jr., 58, of Terre Haute, formerly of Greensburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Union Hospital, after an extended illness. He was born May 23, 1954, in Maysville Ky., to Charles and Marcella (Bennett) Meadows. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Crystal; his maternal grandparents, Sam and Midge Bennett; and his paternal grandparents, Roy Meadows and Clara Conley.
He is survived by his parents of Greensburg; his wife, Diane (Readinger) Meadows, whom he married in 2006; two children, Steven (Eve) Meadows, and Christina Sizemore, all of Greensburg; two stepdaughters, Angela Readinger of Holiday, Fla., and Amanda Readinger of Terre Haute; five grandchildren, Kasey and Kyle Wilson, Kayla Otero, Ethan and Owen Meadows, all of Greensburg; two stepgrandchildren, Tiffany (Adkins) Venable of Greensburg, and Haylee Kelley of Misawa, Japan; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sherry Purvis, Dianna (Bud) Huff, and Linda (Doug) Spitler, all of Greensburg; and two brothers, Rick Meadows and Jeff (Brenda) Meadows, all of Greensburg.
He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1972. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as a military policeman during the time of the Vietnam War, from 1973 to 1976. He was a member of the Joseph A. Bray Detachment 471 Marine Corps League in Terre Haute, where he served in the military order of the Devil Dogs in the color guard. His greatest love was playing his guitar with his grandchildren singing along, and also his three cats, Fuzzball, Varmit and Bootsie.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, and Friday, March 1, 2013, from 11 a.m., until the time of service at 1 p.m., at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home, located at 302 N. Franklin, in Greensburg. Graveside military services will follow at South Park Cemetery, in Greensburg.
