TERRE HAUTE —
Fred E. Morgan, 92, of Jacksonville, Fla., previously of Prairie Creek, Ind., was born Sept. 26, 1920, and passed on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012. Fred graduated from Prairie Creek High School in 1938 and Purdue University in 1943.
Fred is survived by his son, Tim Morgan; and a brother, Ralph Morgan. He was preceded in death by his good wife, Jo Ellen (Wifey), of 46 years; his parents, Louetta and Harvey Morgan; and his brothers, Dick and Earl Morgan.
Fred was known for his pioneering work in 1962 to develop a Pre-Mix program for feeding hogs, which started on-the-farm feed mixing. This Pre-Mix method is the way hogs are fed today. Fred worked closely with Purdue and Illinois Universities to develop and continue improvement of Pre-Mixes for Fred Morgan Feeds. Fred also extended Johnson Avenue to Indiana 63 and developed the surrounding area as Morgan Commercial Park.
Fred and Jo Ellen moved to Pompano Beach, Fla., in 1990. After Jo Ellen died in 1991, Fred continued to live in Pompano and travel all over the world until 2006 when he moved to Jacksonville, Fla.
There will be a going-away party at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, in Terre Haute, to send Fred on his way.
