Christina Church Arney

Christina Church Arney, 82, died Dec. 6, 2012, in Union Hospital after a brief illness.  She was born April 7, 1930, in Terre Haute, to Harry and Sadie Paton Church.

She was a 50-year member of Kerman Caldron No. 19, a past Mighty Chosen One in 1989, and was also a 50-year member of Prarieton Eastern Star No. 163 and a past Worthy Matron.  

She married Melvin L. Arney in 1949 and had three children. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. She was happiest when her grandchildren were with her. She was the switchboard operator at Merchants National Bank and Old National Bank for 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Harry, who was killed in World War II, and a sister Margaret Herndon, who passed away in 2007.

She is survived by three children: Pam Patterson and her husband Don, of Greencastle; Kim Mitchell and her husband Bobby, of Terre Haute; and Jim Arney, of Texas. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Amber Jenkins, Kelli Alexander, Amanda Cooley, Kevin Richardson, Rick Richardson and Britney; 11 greatgrandchildren: Abi Jenkins, Bryson Myers, Nicole Jenkins, Sara Cornfloss, Shianna and Shannon Alexander, Bradyn and Clay Cooley, Madison and Braxtyn Richardson, and Isiah Brown.

Funeral service for Christina will be held Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Seelyville United Methodist Church, 2351 N. Second St., Terre Haute, Ind., with Rev. Jack Diel officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family would request donations be made to the memorial fund at Seelyville United Methodist Church. Greiner Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
