Dorothy Margaret McLaughlin

TERRE HAUTE — Dorothy Margaret McLaughlin, 83, of Terre Haute, passed away at 12 noon on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born in Universal, on Aug. 12, 1929, to Anthony Troskey Sr. and Elizabeth French Troskey. She was a graduate from St. Anthony’;s nursing school and retired from that occupation to raise a family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Gordon C. McLaughlin Jr.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Gordon C. McLaughlin III and wife Cheryl, Peggy McLaughlin, Dr. Kevin McLaughlin and wife Vickie, David McLaughlin and wife Tina, Brenda S. Beamon, and Tracy A. Bonewell and husband Brian. Also surviving are two brothers, Francis Troskey and Anthony Troskey; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by both her parents and two sisters.

She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Terre Haute Women's Golf League, Vigo Bowling League, The Nightingales, and she achieved state championship of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association.

Funeral services will be in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at 1 p.m., with Father Ed Goldbach officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the funeral home. As she had a love for animals, her wishes were for memorial contributions to be made to the Terre Haute Humane Shelter or the charity of choice, in her memory. She would have liked her favorite prayer shared.

“Lord God, You alone are the Great Healer, When my mind and body are weak, I look to You for strength and reassurance. Surround me each day with the peace of Your love and compassion. Quiet my spirit, so I may know Your Goodness and be filled with Your Peace. Heal me, Lord, according to Your plan for my life. This I pray through Jesus Christ, my Lord, Amen”
