He had a successful career as a sales representative in the printing industry in both Canada and the United States. Van had an avid love of the outdoors, which included hiking state parks and kayaking. He also enjoyed photography and had a passion for cars. He will be remembered as a man of integrity who loved his family.

Van is survived by his wife of 35 years, Catherine (Betts) Desrocher; his mother, Ruth (Phillips) Desrocher of Winnipeg, Manitoba; two daughters, Lindsay Frohnapple and her husband Tim of Dyer, Ind., and Carly Desrocher of Lafayette, Ind., and one son, Ben Desrocher of Terre Haute. He also is survived by three grandsons, Mason and Reid Frohnapple, and Donovan Desrocher; brother-in-law, Garnett Betts and his wife Lorraine of Victoria, British Columbia; and several cousins in Alberta and Ontario, Canada. Van was preceded in death by his father, Ben Roland Desrocher (1987); and a sister, Valerie Ruth Desrocher (2012).

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kathy Stienstra. Words cannot express our gratitude for the many years of compassion and commitment she provided to Van and our family. We also wish to thank the staff of Royal Oaks who truly were family to him.
