Frances A. Halberstadt, 91, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation (Southwood). She was born in Terre Haute, on Jan. 19, 1921, to Loring C. Halberstadt and Lula (Harris) Halberstadt.
Frances was a retired school teacher, taught at Coalmont High School, Shields High School in Seymour, American Army High School in Germany, and most of her years at New Castle High School. She started teaching in 1941 and retired in 1980. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and many other organizations. She loved to travel, enjoyed reading, sports, and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Ruth Jonas.
Survivors include her niece, Nancy Jonas of Ellettsville; nephew, Arthur Jonas and wife Beth of Cloverdale; six nephews; and a great-niece and great-nephew in Oregon.
