Clarabelle (Altvater) Snuffer, 77, of Crawfordsville, passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Williamsburg Healthcare. She married Philip L. Snuffer in 1984 and he passed away three days earlier on Nov. 7.
Mrs. Snuffer was born May 5, 1935, in Terre Haute, to Carl and Doris Altvater. She graduated Indiana State with a degree in nursing. She worked alongside her husband as owners of Lee-Med, a hospital supply and hearing aid company, with locations in Crawfordsville, Frankfort, Lebanon, and Marion.
She is survived by sons, Bradley W. Spencer (Amy) of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Bruce W. Spencer (Gayle) of Ellettsville; daughters, Cindy Hanson ( Tommy) and Debbie Spencer, both of Mt. Pleasant, and her niece (raised as a daughter), Mary Taylor (Evan) of Greencastle. She also is survived by stepsons, David G. Snuffer (Karen) of Shelbyville, and Avery D. Snuffer (Melva) of West Lafayette; stepdaughter, Teresa K. Snuffer of Lafayette; and brothers, Charles Altvater and Robert Altvater, both of Terre Haute, and Carl Altvater of Huntsville, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; and sister Elizabeth Altvater
Per her wishes, she was cremated with a private memorial service held by the family.
