MARSHALL, Ill. — Ira A. Wallace, 97, of Marshall, passed away 4:05 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at Burnsides Community Health Center in Marshall. He was born March 13, 1914, in Anderson Township, Clark County, Ill., the son of Herman Wallace and Ida Siverly Wallace.

Surviving are a daughter, Carol Shimek of Flag Staff, Ariz.; grandchildren, Ray (Kendra) Wallace, Bob (Donna) Wallace, Debbie (J.D.) Martin, Lori (Ken) Noble, Lisa (Rich) Davis, David (Kelly) Wallace, all of Marshall, Chris Forster of Paris, Ill., Pam Noller of Wichita, Kan., Donna Osgood of Pem Pines, Fla., and Tammy (Randy) Washburn of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; several great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Woody Wallace of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Burton Wallace and Robert Wallace; four brothers, Ben Siverly, Clarence Wallace, Sam Wallace, and Ray Wallace; and a sister, Ruby Hibschman.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5975 in Marshall. He loved to play cards, and ginseng and mushroom hunt.

Services in honor of his life will be 7 p.m. CST Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., in Marshall, with Brother Jim Shumaker officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 5975.
