Fay Pickering

Marshall, lll. — Fay Pickering, 56, of Marshall, passed away 9:31 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, in the emergency room at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. She was born Oct. 23, 1955, at Maywood, Calif., the daughter of Raymond Nay and Martha Mullen Nay. She married James Pickering on Feb. 2, 1977, in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Terre Haute. She was a bus driver for Marshall Community Unit C2 School District.

Surviving are her husband, James; two sons, Aaron Pickering of Marshall, and Joshua (Brenda) Pickering of West Union, Ill.; four grandchildren, Adam Pickering, Jacob Pickering, Claire Pickering and Olivia Pickering; her siblings, Sandy Fogelman of Pittsboro, N.C., Jan (Charles) Bowen of West Terre Haute, Ind., and Steven (Terry) Nay of Anderson, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of Marshall First Christian Church. She was a member of Marshall Mellow Players, active with Phoenix Theater and Marshall Soldier Support Group. She was active with the Lunch Buddy Program and a Homework Hangout Volunteer and she volunteered her services to so many community projects to numerous to mention. She had been an EMT for the Marshall Fire Protection and Ambulance Service. She was a lover of animals, nature and the ocean.

Memorial services in honor of her life will be 7 p.m. CST Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at the First Christian Church, 902 N. 6th St., in Marshall, with Brother John Cutshall officiating. A gathering for family and friends will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Homework Hangout with envelopes available at the church or may be mailed to First Christian Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pearce Funeral Home, in Marshall.
