Robert Lee Rogers

Robert Lee Rogers, 77, of Terre Haute, passed away at home on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013. He was born on Oct. 4, 1935, to Frank and Lenorah Rogers. Robert graduated from Gerstmeyer High School. In high school he pitched on the baseball team when Tommy John was the mascot.

He was drafted in to the United States Army and served his country for eight years. He also pitched on the Army baseball team. He worked at ISU and AMAX UMWA as an electrician before retirement. Robert was a member of the Moose Lodge 1009 and American Legion Wayne Newton Post 346. He enjoyed line dancing, and he especially enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center in Terre Haute on Monday and Friday night dinner group. Robert was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank Roberts’s doctors Dr. Spicklemire and Dr. Susan Gravelyn.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Patricia Gayle Rogers in 2003. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Davis-Rogers; son, Gary Rogers; stepdaughter, Laura Kirchner and her husband Larry; sister, Carol Martin and her husband Joe, Mary Davis and her husband Lyle, and Betty Byley; granddaughter, Jenna Burd; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at 11 a.m. in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive. Pastor Rick Swan will be officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, from 4 until 8 p.m. Online condolences can be made at:  www.debaunfuneralhomes.com
