Dorothy Caroline Braynard

TERRE HAUTE — MARSHALL, Ill. — Dorothy Caroline Braynard, 91, of Marshall, passed away 5:55 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Burnsides Community Health Center. She was born July 16, 1921, at Sparta, Wis., the daughter of Albert and Caroline Hahn. She married Meyrl S. Braynard on Dec. 30, 1939, and he preceded her in death on May 4, 1995. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn and Beatrice; and a younger brother, Carl “Kiko” who had a special bond with “Dort.”

Surviving are three daughters and their families; Julene Lavelli and husband Albert of Chicago, and their children, Mike Lavelli and wife Shari, Steve Lavelli, Debbie Jenkins and husband Jeff, Kathy Lavelli and her child Tom, and Cindy Jaime and her child Nico; her second daughter, Sharon Hilbert and husband Jim of West Union, and their children Bryan Hilbert and his daughter, Kaysi Hilbert and fiancé Matt Ruffner and their son Wyatt, and Brad Hilbert and wife Regina and their children, Madison, Regan and Bo; and her third daughter, Vicki Bradley and husband Butch of Newburgh, Ind., and their children, Kevin Bradley and wife Wendy and their children, Sierra and Jaden, Darrin Bradley and his children Lauren and Cole, and Tonya Greenwell and husband Chad and their children, Zach, Clay, Taylor and Karlee.

She was a part of the Marshall Congregational Church family and was a retired supervisor at the TRW facility. She was always involved in the activities of her children.

Services in honor of her life will be 2 p.m. CST Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tim Duke officiating. Burial will be at Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 noon Saturday until services. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Dorothy Caroline Braynard Scholarship Fund or to the Marshall Cemetery Association.
