Lyrray Lynn Pierce, 48, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, in her residence. She was born Nov. 27, 1964, in Terre Haute, to David Pierce and Carrol Montague. She had previously been employed by Columbia House for 11 years, and Sam’s Club for seven years. Lyrray was a breast cancer survivor.
She was a collector of many things, she liked to crochet and loved to shop. She was a former Girl Scout troop leader, former council member of Job’s Daughters Bethel 2, and a former softball team manager. Her children were the most important thing in her life, and her grandchildren loved their Meme.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Billie Rae Dowell.
She is survived by her parents, David Pierce and his wife Connie, and Carrol Montague, all of Terre Haute; one son, Michael Dowell of Terre Haute; one daughter, Rustie Mills of Terre Haute; brothers, Troy Pierce of Staunton, Anthony Pierce and wife Hope of Coral Springs, Fla., and David Pierce Jr. of Miami, Fla.; one sister, Heather Downs of Avon; one stepsister, Kelli McCan and husband Matt of Terre Haute; one stepbrother, Chad Dickerson and wife Cindy of Clinton; two loving grandchildren, Harley and Ava Dowell; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, family, and loved ones.
