WEST TERRE HAUTE —
Rebecca Jane Mullen Jones, 80, of West Terre Haute, passed away at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
She was born Nov. 28, 1932, in West Terre Haute, to William and Hazel Scott Mullen. She retired as a case worker for the Indiana Department of Public Welfare in 1990 after many years of service. She then worked in the Vigo County Clerk’s Office for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, William H. Jones; a son and daughter-in-law, William “Hal” Jones II and Arlene Jones of Indian Creek, N.C.; two daughters, Elizabeth “Liz” Jones-Grant and her husband, Brian Grant, of West York, Ill., and Ellen Jones Spillers of West Terre Haute; three sisters, Betty Walters of Terre Haute, Mary Ellen Schaffer of Franklin, and Nancy Piper of Highland, Ill.; three grandchildren, Kristina Thomson and her husband, John, Karen Jones and Keisha Spillers; a great-grandchild, Madyn Dron.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Austin Grant, and a sister, Alice Kyle. She was a graduate of Valley High School class of 1950, and a member of Bethany United Church Of Christ in West Terre Haute. She enjoyed traveling and most of all she loved her family and grandchildren.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Bethany United Church Of Christ, 219 W. Miller Ave., West Terre Haute, with the Rev. Steve Moore officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time in the church. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Church of Christ with envelopes available in the church. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
