  UPDATE 4: Deadly tornado roars through Oklahoma City suburb

  A monstrous tornado at least a half-mile wide roared through the Oklahoma City suburbs Monday, flattening entire neighborhoods and destroying an elementary school with a direct blow as children and teachers huddled against winds up to 200 mph. At least 51 people were killed, and officials said the death toll was expected to rise.

Robert Ray Silvers

Robert Ray Silvers, 77, of West Terre Haute, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Robert was born in Brazil, the son of William and Ada Silvers. Robert was a retired over the road truck driver for the J.I. Case Company, A member of the Teamster Union Local 43, a life member of Wren Smith Veterans of Foreign War Post 5624, and a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Silvers was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Albert, William, Russell, and Darlene Silvers.

Robert is survived by his wife, Judith M. (Lambert) Silvers; children, Pamela Prim of Washington state, Robert M. (Nora G.) Silvers of Vincennes, Jonas W. (fiancée Lisa Herrick) of Farmersburg, and April Vermillion of West Terre Haute. Mr. Silvers also is survived by grandchildren, Elaine, Michelle, Coty, Michael Jimhounson, Jhelsin, Kaitlyn Herrick, Jennifer, Aron and Zachary Prim

A private celebration of life will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Simple Cremations and Burials, Clinton.
