TERRE HAUTE — Charles E. Rukes Sr., 77, of Terre Haute, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Union Hospital. He was born Jan. 10, 1935, in Vigo County.

He is survived by his sons, Charles Rukes Jr., and Randal Rukes, daughter, Jamie Staples, all of Terre Haute; three grandchildren, Preston Rukes, of Martinsville, Ill., and Nicole Rukes and Melissa Rukes, a great-grandson, Marcus Davis Jr., brother, Clovis Rukes and wife Linda, and sister, Anna Allsup, all of Terre Haute, and a sister, Camilla Dean of Kendallville; brother-in-law, Charles Tackett of West Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clovis Rukes and Elizabeth Leeds Rukes; his wife, Dolly Rukes; his sister, Evelyn Maxine Tackett; a niece, Barbara Jean Brock; brother, Ralph Rukes, and brother, Paul Rukes, who died on Nov. 15, 2012.

Funeral services to celebrate the lives of both Chuck Rukes Sr. and Paul Rukes will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kyle Andrews officiating. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial of the ashes of both Chuck and Paul will follow services, with procession to Bethesda Memorial Park for committal services.
