Robert Frank Theisz

TERRE HAUTE — Robert Frank Theisz, 80, of Terre Haute died Sunday, December 30, 2012 in T.H. Regional Hospital with his family by his side.  He was born July 23, 1932 in Whiting, IL, to Josef Theisz and Helen Michki Theisz.

Survivors include his wife, Jeannette Donnelly-Theisz; three children, Regina Theisz, Greg Theisz, and Jeff Theisz; four step-children, Ray Donnelly and his wife Tana, Trish Land and her husband Greg, Maureen Newman and her husband Todd, and Mark Donnelly and his wife Brooke; six grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Chuck Smith; special aunt, Minnie Michki; several cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary G. Theisz; and his sister, Irene Smith.   

Robert was retired from the U.S. Navy in 1973 after 22 years where he served on seven ships and naval stations receiving multiple medals of commendation.  He was a life long member of the Hungarian Lodge and a member of V.F.W. Post # 972.  In his earlier years he enjoyed watercolor painting and was an avid fisherman.  Robert was a 1950 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School where he was a member of choir, band, and the drama club.  

Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street followed by services at 8 p.m. with Deacon Mike Stratman officiating.  Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum at a later date.  The family kindly requests that memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL  60674.
