SULLIVAN — Wilma I. Simmons, 82, of Sullivan, passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor. Wilma was born Nov. 2, 1929, in Linton, to John and Clara (Peltier) Geatches. She was a graduate of Linton High and was a member of the North Court Street Church of Christ. She and her husband John loved to go camping and traveled with a local camping group.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John W. Simmons, who died March 19, 2006; a daughter, Dianna Simmons Riley; and two brothers, Ralph and Wayne Geatches.

Survivors include a daughter, Pam (Phil) Jennings of Shelburn; two sisters, Mildred Gish of Grand Rapids, Mich., and formerly of St. Bernice, and Lorene Edwards of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, Jason Riley, Josh Riley, Andrea Riley, Deborah (Tom) Grubb, Jordan Riley, Nathaniel Riley, and Sonya Bedwell Riley; six great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Holmes Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Ron Schlatter officiating. Burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. until time of services Thursday. The family suggest that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Vista Care Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
