He retired in 1988 as the plant superintendent for Midwestern Gas Transmission Company, in Potomac, Ill., after 33 years of service. He was born Sept. 20, 1931, in Mifflin, Ohio, to John and Viola Goon.

Survivors include his wife, Myrna Loy Fitzgerald Goon, whom he married May 6, 1955, in Genoa, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Sandy Goon of Oxford; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Mike Lucas of West Terre Haute; a brother, David Goon and wife Geraldine of Marion, Ohio; a sister, Margaret Goon of Marion; five grandchildren, Ryan Patrick Goon and wife Emilee, Kevin Lee Goon and wife Brittany, Jerod Lucas, Jeremy Lucas, and Janelle Lucas; a great-granddaughter, Landary Loy Goon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.

Clyde grew up on a farm and always enjoyed that life. After his retirement he helped a local farmer and enjoyed doing farm work. He also enjoyed working in his garden, raising farm animals, and doing yard work and home repairs. His hobbies that he enjoyed included, woodworking, fishing, go-kart racing, and mushroom hunting, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Clyde was a graduate of Hayesville High School, in Hayesville, Ohio, in the class of 1949. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force in which he served from 1952 to 1956, during which time he was a flight line mechanic stationed at Ellington Air Force Base in Texas. He was a member of the Terre Haute First Church of The Nazarene.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, in the church, 801 Fort Harrison Road, with the Revs. Mark Fleschner and Larry Mathias Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Pleasantview Cemetery.
