William Thomas Simmons

SULLIVAN — William “Will” Thomas Simmons, 81, of Sullivan, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at IU Methodist Hospital, in Indianapolis. He was born Dec. 30, 1930, in Sullivan County, the son of Paul and Blanche (Bennett) Simmons. Will married Mary Alice Walters on July 14, 1950. He was a former owner of S&R Burial Vault, S&R Masonry, Valle De Oré Mining Company and a partner of Miller and Simmons Reality Company. He was a member of Sullivan First Christian Church, Kiwanis Club of Sullivan, and past president of Sullivan Chamber of Commerce. He was an avid pilot and spent the past 40 years in research and development of precious metals.   

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Simmons; and sister, Mary Edwards.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Simmons; two sons, Keith Simmons, and Steve (Amy) Simmons, all of Sullivan; daughters, Teresa (Jim) Terrell, and Susan (Jeff) Tincher, all of Sullivan; grandchildren, Natalie (Jeff) McKinley, Greg Simmons, Mackenzie Simmons (Aaron Hoffner), Conner Simmons, Carrie (Joe) Mize, Kelley (Nick) DeVore, Will (Sara) Simmons, Julie (Michael) Jackson, and Ben Simmons; and great-grandchildren, Maxton McKinley, Emily Simmons, Ashley Simmons, Wesley Simmons, Carson Mize, Helena Mize, Caleb Mize, Andrew Jackson, Samuel Jackson, Grace Simmons, and Mary Alice Simmons. Will is also survived by Leah Terrell (Brad) Wible and family, and Jamie Terrell (Jimmie) Gardner and family.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Banks and Brust Funeral Home, with David Cox, Dale Wise and Michael Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2012, at the funeral home.
