CLINTON — William H. Lamb, 91, of Indianapolis and formerly of Libertyville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at 10:45 a.m., at the Harrison Retirement Community, in Indianapolis, where they had lived for the past two years. He was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Clinton, to Ernest Oscar Lamb and Mary Elva Shirley Lamb.
He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for meritorious conduct in action. He retired from J.I. Case Company on Jan. 31, 1986.
He was a member at the Church of Christ, in Libertyville, where he served as an elder. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents. He married Lois E. Dowdy on Sept. 18, 1948, and she survives.
He also is survived by his children, Connie Lamb Simrell and Vern and Deborah Lamb Mitchell and Ben: grandchildren, Heather Wilkinson, William Lark, Nicole Bixler and Amanda Bixler; great-grandchildren, Richard Pemberton, Emilee Pemberton and Dylan Lark.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Frist Funeral Home, with the service to be at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Mark Strahm officiating. Burial will be in Little Grove Cemetery.
