Donald Lee ‘Dutch’ Creasey

TERRE HAUTE — Donald Lee “Dutch” Creasey, 79, of Paris, Ill., formerly of West Terre Haute passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012, in the Veterans Hospital in Danville, Ill. He was born Feb. 2, 1933, in Vigo County, to John and Grace Creasey of West Terre Haute.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Vera L. Creasey; and his seven children, Marlene Templeton and husband Walt of North Terre Haute, Tammy Higginbotham and husband Chris Sr., Michael Creasey Sr., and Fabe Creasey, all of West Terre Haute, Lori Creasey of Paris, Mark Creasey and wife Nikki of Bakersfield, Calif., and Lisa Bedwell and husband Todd of Paris; two sisters, Doyne Miller of Dennison, Ill., and Ethel Williams Ruark of Terre Haute; a brother, Paul Creasey Sr.; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Beth Creasey; five brothers and three sisters.

Donald was loved by all and will be missed dearly. Donald and Vera moved from West Terre Haute to Paris, in 2004. He was one of the many Creasey brothers who helped their father John get the Creasey Brothers Plastering Business going at the age of 24 in West Terre Haute. Donald retired at the age of 59. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and spent four years on the USS Strive AM 117 Minesweeper. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6574 in West Terre Haute.

According to his wishes, cremation has been scheduled. A Celebration of Life service will be held in his honor at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012, in the West Vigo/New Goshen Lions Clubhouse (now called the Lion’s Den) which is the old fire department headquarters in New Goshen. Food carry-ins are welcome. Following the celebration of life gathering a small memorial will be held for the family at his residence. Per Donald’s wishes, instead of planters or flowers, please send any monetary donations to First Financial Bank to help out with celebration of life gathering and memorial.
