Erlene H. Romans, 87, of Terre Haute, passed away at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2012, in Kindred Transitional Care/Southwood. She was born in Forest City, Ill., on Dec. 14, 1924, to Edward Pryor Schappaugh and Helen Grace Spaits Schappaugh.

She is survived by two daughters, Diana Romans and Julie Beth Edwards and her husband John; two brothers, Loren Schappaugh and Roger Schappaugh; as well as two sisters, Lois Ritthaler and Carol Hillman; and also by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Virgil Romans; and by one son, Rick E. Romans. Also preceding her in death were five brothers and sisters, her twin, Earl Schappaugh, Faye Heilman, Dorothy Claton, Evelyn Lhamon, and Gloria Colson.

She was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, on Monday, July 16, 2012, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. James Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for today, July 15, 2012, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at:
