Mary Louise Grady

TERRE HAUTE — Mary Louise Grady went home to be with the Lord at 10:07 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, in Terre Haute. She was born Nov. 24, 1922, in Huntsville, Ala., to the late Samuel and Mary Shelton.  

She was united in marriage to James W. Grady, who preceded her in death January 2010. Mary had her own cleaning service for many years. She loved gardening but her favorite passion was sewing. She was an excellent seamstress. She was a gracious hostess and entertained many in her home and she especially loved spoiling her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Grady; son, George Cornelous; granddaughter, Ivy Louise; and five brothers.

Mary is survived by her loving daughter-in-law, Ruby Cornelous, Terre Haute; three sisters, Catherine Freeman, Lucille Jordon, and Carrie Garner, all of Huntsville; two brothers, Otha (Ebbie) Bailey, Birmingham, Ala., and Eugene Mayfield, Huntsville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bishop Alan and Anna Seaton, Terre Haute; sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Battle, Nashville, Tenn., and Mary Mayfield, Huntsville; brother-in-law, James Stewart, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Danny (Tammie) Cornelous, Terre Haute, Leland Cornelous, Springfield, Mo., Robin Cornelous, Terre Haute, Curt Cornelous, Terre Haute, Leonard Cornelous, Atlanta, David Cornelous, Terre Haute, Lisa (Cornelous) Glass, Atlanta, and Pyris (Donald) Lemmon, Atlanta; special granddaughters, Arlene Wills and Madrine Vass, both of Daytona, Fla.; special sons, Leo Collier, St. Louis, Mo., and Alfred (Dolores) Stanley, Terre Haute; special friend, Willa Mae Parker, Danville, Ill.; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Bethlehem Temple Church, 1432 South 13th St., in Terre Haute, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Funeral service will begin at 12 noon with District Elder J. Glenn Purnell officiating. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Cemetery, in Danville, Ill. Russell Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
