John ‘Jim’ Anthony Ugo

ROSEDALE — ROSEDALE — John “Jim” Anthony Ugo, 81, of Rosedale, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012, in his residence. He was born on Nov. 4, 1930, to John and Opal Ugo, in Clinton. He had worked at Walker Electric, Hardware Supply, Coldwell and Company, and Power Compressor Systems.

He was a founder of Mining Technical Society, director of Indiana Coal Miners Accoc 76-2003, John and Dee were the 2006 Re and Regina, he was a past president of Indiana State Bowling Association (lifetime member), past president of Terre Haute Bowling Association, he was inducted into the Bowlers Hall of Fame, implemented the bowling program for South Vermillion High School, and he coached Little League and Babe Ruth. He was one of the founders for the Little Miss South Vermillion Softball League, and he also was a member of the Half Century, Lion’s Club, Eagles, and Sons of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Kathy Ugo. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Deloris “Dee” Ugo; his children, Sherry (Doug) Newman, Howard (Isabel) Ugo, Lorri Ugo, and Pam (Duke) Bennett; grandchildren, Chris Newman, Mike Newman (Terri), Tony Newman, Karen Oldham, Michelle and Steven Cottom, Jeremy Harsharbarger, Suzanne Bennett, Ryan Bennett, and Lillie Lawson; great-grandchildren, Tyler Newman, Richard Long, Dylan Newman, Madison Newman, Hadley Newman, Marrissa Oldham, Brogan Cottom, and Ali Cottom; a sister, Beverly and Richard Pitman; a sister-in-law, Rosie and Roger Hancock; and a brother-in-law, Howard and Loretta Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Frist Funeral Home, 458 Blackman St., in Clinton. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Bob Howard officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
